An award-winning quilting teacher is heading to Southold in April for a lecture and workshop.

The Eastern Long Island Quilters Guild will host National Quilting Association certified teacher Linda Hahn from New Jersey, who will present her lecture and trunk show, “New York Beauty State of Mind” on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Southold Town Recreation Center, located at 970 Peconic Lane.

During the presentation, Hahn will describe the inspiration behind her AQD bestseller, “New York Beauty Simplified,” as well as the experience of writing a book and the publishing process.

Hahn will also share stories of the quilts and those who made them, which are detailed in the book. Most of the quilts will be onhand for display. There is a $5 guest fee for the program, which is free to Southold Town residents.

Next, on Saturday, April 5, also at the Southold Town Recreation Center, Hahn will host a New York Beauty Diversified Buffalo Bubblegum workshop. Students will learn how to create New York Beauty blocks using Hahn’s “unique one pin” technique, a release publicizing the event stated. Next, students will incorporate the blocks into a dynamic setting with no set seams. The kit, $25, containing foundation paper that can be left in the quilt, a laser cut paper piercing stencil, and custom acrylic templates, is required, and payable to the instructor. There is also a $50 registration fee. For further information, go to www.eliqg.com.
