Photos: Hundreds run May Mile 5K at Peconic Landing Saturday

Hundreds participated in the ninth annual May Mile 5K which was held Saturday at Peconic Landing in Greenport as part of the Older Americans month celebration.

All proceeds from the 5K and raffles that were held went to benefit the Greenport Fire Department. This year the fire department received a check for $25,200, up $950 from last year’s profits.

Father Thomas Murray, of St. Agnes church in Greenport, was presented with the Older American Champion Award after the race. The award is given annually to an individual who has shown service and dedication to older Americans.

Race results:

First place male: Jack May – 17:54 – age 44 – first overall
Second place male: Mateo Arias – 18:43 – age 14 – second overall
Third place male: Jason Leonard – 19:17 – age 44 – third overall

First place female: Tara Wilson – 20:08 – age 27 – fifth overall
Second place female: Tommy Eliza Vines – 22:01 – age 11 – 13th overall
Third place female: Nadira Vlaun – 25:30 – age 37 – 21st overall
