Carroll J. (Jack) Harvey of Mattituck died October 19, 2014. He was 96 years old.
Harvey was born August 30, 1918 to Hersey Homer and Maxie “Wood” Harvey in Roseland, Virginia.
Harvey spent his childhood years in Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was wounded during the invasion of Normandy. He was decorated with a Purple Heart. He worked for the NYS Department of Agriculture for 30 years.
Harvey was a past member of the Mattituck Fire Department and VFW Post 2476 in Riverhead as well as an active member of the Mattituck American Legion and Mattituck Presbyterian Church.
Predeceased by his wife of 50 years Stella, and daughter Beverly Jean Beakhurst, Harvey is survived by his son Carroll Jr. of Roseland, Virginia and daughter Judy McDermott of Rochester. He leaves behind two grand-daughters, Mary Kathleen Fohrkolb of Mattituck and Carolynne Harvey of Ridgewood, New Jersey, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will recive visitors on Wednesday, October 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coster Heppner Funeral Home. A service will be held during calling hours at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at Calverton national Cemetery on Thursday, October 23 at 10 a.m.
Donations in his memory may be made to Mattituck Presbyterian Church.
