Carolyn J. Beardsley passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2014 due to lung cancer after a full, happy and blessed life.
She is survived by her children Nancy (Tom) Lyon of North Babylon, NY, Ruth (Tom Sansone) Beardsley of Bethany, CT, James (Karen) Beardsley of Bethesda, MD and Susan (Marcell) Easter of Charleston, SC, and by her brother C. William (Gail) Jones of Frisco, TX, and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Herbert.
She was born on July 17, 1935 in Schenectady, NY and graduated from St. Agnes School (now Doane Stuart School) in Albany, NY. She and her husband began life together at the Church of the Advent in Westbury, NY where he was the curate, moving to Trinity Episcopal Church in Gulph Mills, PA when Herb became rector there, and returning to Advent when he became rector in 1965. For the next 30 years they raised their family in Westbury. She worked as a secretary for several organizations.
Upon their retirement in 1995, they moved to eastern Long Island where she indulged her passion for knitting and socializing with friends and family. She was active in the Episcopal Church throughout her life. Her greatest pride and joy was as a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Services will be held at Church of the Redeemer, 13225 Sound Ave., Mattituck, NY at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20. In lieu of flowers, anyone inclined to make a memorial donation is asked to give to Church of the Redeemer at the above address, or to East End Hospice, www.eeh.org.
