George James Kurovics, 90

George James Kurovics of Jamesport died January 13, 2015, the victim of an automobile accident. He was 90 years old.

Born in Middle Island on April 19, 1924, he was the son of Betram and Elizabeth (Ivan) Kurovics.

A World War II veteran, Kurovics served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1947.

He was the owner and operator of George’s Rocky Point Barber Shop, which he founded in 1948.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce; sons, George of Jamesport and Leo of Port Jefferson Station; daughters, Joy Domino, of Southold and Linda Sue Shropshire, of Miller Place; a brother, Jimmy, of Virginia; and a sister, Betty O’Kula-Coughlan. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by: his brothers, Bert, Bucky, Joe and Steve and his sister, Margaret; by a granddaughter, Heather Domino; and a great-grandson, Justin Domino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. William Breslawski on Monday, January 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Rocky Point. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery. There will be no visitation hours.
