Shirley E. Densieski, 78

2015_0328_densieski_obit a lifelong Riverhead resident passed away suddenly on March 25, 2015 at her winter home in Arapahoe, North Carolina, three days after her 78th birthday.

Shirley enjoyed gardening and planting, especially orchids in which she had a green thumb. Mostly, Shirley loved family. She and husband of 59 years, Sonny, did everything together, along with their loyal dog, Buttons.

Shirley was an art and substitute teacher at St. John’s school in Riverhead.

Shirley and Sonny were the “Iron Man Welding” duo, a fixture at Riverhead Raceway for over 30 years. Shirley even acquired the name “Mrs. Iron Man.”
Together, they touched many lives.

Shirley always put family and friends before herself; she will be remembered as a smart, quick-witted, generous soul, and will be missed by many. She will be forever in our hearts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Teddy and his wife Joann; and Eddie and his wife Annmarie. She is also survived by four granddaughters: Lesley, Jessie, Cassie and Jamie.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home, 336 Marcy Avenue in Riverhead.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
