Bundled up in snow pants and boots, hats and mittens, scores of excited kids scrambled to Veterans Memorial Park Sunday for a spirited Easter Egg Hunt, staged this year despite new snow on the ground.
Even the Easter Bunny became a snow bunny for the day, his fuzzy feet wrapped safely in plastic to keep dry.
But yesterday’s snowfall didn’t dampen the festivities, hosted by the Mattituck Park District. Kids enjoyed prizes, including bicycles, ice cream, pizza and more.
According to Donielle Cardinale of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce, over 5,000 brightly colored eggs were scattered for kids to find; the kids scooped them all up within seconds.
The event was sponsored by the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce, Country Time Cycles and Jim and Christine Murphy, as well at Mattituck 7-Eleven, Wendy’s Deli, Mattituck Cinemas, Love Lane Toys, Goldberg’s Famous Bagels, Magic Fountain, East End Sporting Goods, Uncle Joe’s Pizza, Yogurt Expressions, Mattituck Sweet Shoppe, Michelangelos of Mattituck and Ammirati’s of Love Lane.
