Feliska Sawicka of Riverhead, the founder and 38-year principal of the Maximilian Kolbe Polish School, died Aug. 14, 2015 at age 93.
She was born on June 22, 1922 in Poland to Jozef and Ursula Sawicki.
Sawicka also worked as a lab assistant and supervisor with Cornell University. She is survived by her sister, Czeslawa Zakrzewska.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Isidore’s Cemetery.
