Four to six inches of snow Friday morning will impact morning rush hour

Four to six inches of snow is on the way tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory has been issued between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. tomorrow.

Rain in the early hours of the morning will switch over to snow by daybreak, dropping between four to six inches across Long Island before 1 p.m., according to the advisory.

Locally higher amounts are possible, according to the NWS forecast discussion, especially if the storm tracks further west. The timing of the changeover from rain to snow could also increase accumulation totals.

Wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour are possible, with visibilities as low as one quarter to half a mile.
