Another power outage leaves Greenport in the dark this morning

(Updated: 4 p.m.) Today’s brief power outage in the Village of Greenport was the result of FEMA-related pole replacement on the North Road, where crews were moving cable from one pole to another, according to a press release sent out by Village Clerk Sylvia Pirillo.

“PSEG has been asked to ensure as much as possible that future events of this type do not occur,” the release said.

Power went out at 11:06 and was out a total of 14 minutes, the village said.

This is the second power outage to affect Greenport in the past two weeks. On April 18, a faulty PSEG supply line cut off power to the village’s power plant, Hubbard said, leaving the entire village without electricity for more than two hours on a Monday morning.

PSEG did not return a call seeking comment.
