The Tuckers may have lost to Bayport/Blue Point in yesterday’s match, but they did come away with one small victory: Katie Hoeg’s 500th career point for the team.

Hoeg, a senior at Mattituck and the Class of 2016 salutatorian, recently led the Tuckers girls basketball team to win their first-ever Long Island championship as team captain. Now, Hoeg is currently ranked third in girls lacrosse leaders in Suffolk, according to Newsday, with 50 goals, 56 assists and 106 points this season.

At yesterday’s game, Hoeg was credited with two assists and two points, just enough to get her to her 500th Tucker’s point. Mattituck was not able to overcome undefeated Bayport/Blue Point’s quick feet and strong defense, coming away with their forth loss of the season, 14-7.
