Community Action Southold Town, Inc. will host a food drive on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will be collecting food outside of Greenport IGA, Southold IGA, Cutchogue King Kullen, and Mattituck Marketplace (formerly Waldbaum’s).
Staff and volunteers help keep the CAST food pantry stocked with non-perishable food items to help families with limited financial resources. In addition, during school vacation weeks and summer recess, CAST provides supplemental feeding programs to families with school-aged children, especially those who receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch at school.
Local organizations, faith-based and secular, as well as public donations in local supermarkets add to the stock. Sometimes donations of supermarket gift cards add to what CAST can provide their clients. Donations of non-perishable food items are always accepted during CAST business hours.
