Babette Cornine succeeds Creedon as Greenport school board president

Former board vice president Babette Cornine was elected president of the Greenport school board at its organizational meeting for the upcoming school year.

Former board vice president Babette Cornine was elected president of the Greenport school board at its organizational meeting for the upcoming school year, which was held last night in the high school auditorium. Cornine succeeds Daniel Creedon, who placed her name in nomination. There was no other candidate and the vote was unanimous.

Board member Kirsten Droskoski was elected vice president. The board  made many routine appointments for the year, attorneys, physicians, committee members, and district officers, including the following:

  • District clerk: Jessie-Lynn Kemp
  • Deputy district clerk: David Gamberg
  • District treasurer: Jason Barkley
  • Deputy district treasurer: Babette Cornine
  • Purchasing agent: Frank Mazzie
  • Health insurance administrator: Frank Mazzie
  • Deputy health insurance administrator: Jessie-Lynn Kemp
  • Records management officer: Jessie-Lynn Kemp
  • Asbestos designee: Marc DaSilva
  • Right-to-know officer: David Gamberg
  • Claims auditor: Diane Peterson

The board then conducted its first regular meeting of the new school year.

PERSONNEL

The board approved an inter-municipal cooperation agreement with Southold Inion Free School District for the positions of Assistant Plant Facilities Administrator and Director of Educational Technology for the 2016-2017 school year.

Kaitlin Daniels was appointed secondary English teacher and Daniela Norte was appointed teacher of speakers of other languages, each with a probationary period of September 1, 2016 through September 1, 2020. Brian Scott Holt was appointed to part-time social studies teacher and part-time teachers assistant positions, with the same probationary period.

Lauren Kollen was appointed assistant to the director of special education for the 2016-2017 school year.
