Joan McNamee of Southold and formerly of Orient died on August 13, 2016 at Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue at the age of 82.
She was born on November 9, 1933 in Flushing, Queens to Adolph and Anna Usewicz.
On May 16, 1953, she married John T. “Mac” McNamee.
Predeceased by her husband of 51 years on June 24, 2004, she is survived by six children: Barbara Omaggio of Saratoga Springs, Betty Wood of Aquebogue, Nancy Fregosi of Massapequa, Mary Ellen Erdman of Southold, Jean McCoy of Center Moriches and James McNamee of Flushing; two brothers: Robert Usewicz of Williston Park, and Richard Usewicz of Hopewell Junction, New York; grandchildren: Shannon, Heather, Chris, Tommy, Michael, Kerri, Kara, Kevin, Melissa, Megan, Emily, Katherine, Danny, Kelly, Sara, Stephen, Suzanne and Sabrina and great-grandchildren Seamus, Kaylie, Ashley, Skylar, C.J., Ben, Lyla, Tommy, Samantha, Matthew, Ricky, Tyler and Calvin.
Visiting will be held on Monday, August 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 16 at 10 a.m.. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Southold. Interment will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kanas Center for Hospice Care would be appreciated.
