A woman whose leg and foot were run over by a car at a Southold farm stand this afternoon was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Police had Main Road closed to traffic in both directions between Laurel and Boisseau avenues while they investigated the scene. Southold Fire Department responded to treat the victim at the scene.

Police said the woman and her husband had just gotten out of their car, a white Volkswagen Beetle, which was not fully shifted into park and it started rolling. They both tried to stop it and the woman was struck by the vehicle, which ran over her leg and foot. The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the Country View Farm Stand on Main Road in Southold.
