A Greenport man struck a 7-Eleven clerk in the face after he was refused service early this morning, fought with police officers who were placing him under arrest and then damaged a police car by kicking the rear window, according to police.

Ryan Greenberg, 23, was arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief and misdemeanor charges of harassment and resisting arrest.

Around 6:20 a.m. this morning, Greenberg was refused service at the 7-Eleven in Greenport. Police said he became “aggressive” and struck a 7-Eleven clerk in the face.

An off-duty Suffolk County Corrections officer attempted to intervene, and Greenberg also struck him in the face, according to police. He pushed a woman in the face while leaving the convenience store, police said.

When Southold police officers attempted to arrest him, he began fighting with the responding officers and resisted arrest, according to police.

As police were transporting him to Southold Police Department, Greenberg kicked the rear passenger window of the marked police car, causing damage to it, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
