Peconic Landing’s end-of-summer celebration with fireworks is canceled by weather for the second time this year

Peconic Landing’s End of Summer Celebration has been rained out for the second and last time in 2016.

The concert and fireworks, originally set for Sept. 4, were rescheduled to tonight due to inclement weather on that date.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel the show this year, but the weather just isn’t on our side,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “This is a highlight event for our community and one we look forward to each summer. We hope that everyone will join us next year to bring back this annual tradition.”

Today’s poor weather conditions also forced the relocation of the Greenport Oyster Festival, which had been scheduled to take place at Greenport Harbor Brewery in Greenport Village. Due to rain, it has been relocated to the brewery’s Peconic location. The event started at noon and continues through 6 p.m.
