Southold Town Police detectives are seeking information about a stabbing that reportedly occurred in the area of the IGA Supermarket in Greenport yesterday.
Police identified the victim as James Lawrence of Greenport. He was stabbed in the abdomen by unknown person or persons, police said. Investigators have been unable to speak to Mr. Lawrence due to his medical condition, according to the police report.
Medical staff at Eastern Long Island Hospital notified police yesterday at 3:18 p.m. about a victim of violence that had been taken to the hospital by a good Samaritan, according to a police press release issued this afternoon.
