Southold man charged with DWI, leaving the scene after crashing into street signs on Route 25 in front of American Legion

A Southold man was arrested at his home early this morning on charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident on Route 25 in front of the American Legion last night, according to Southold Town Police.

Police said Theodore Renshaw, 26, was driving while intoxicated when his vehicle struck and damaged several street signs on Route 25 in front of the American Legion shortly after midnight, then left the scene. The vehicle involved was located at Renshaw’s residence, police said.

Renshaw was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment.
