The Southold High School class of 2020 has once again erected a field of flags in front of the high school on Oaklawn Avenue in Southold as a way to honor veterans who have served our country.

This year’s field displays 66 flags, six more than last year.

According to freshman class advisor and Special Education teacher Christine Imbriano, the students raise money through sponsorship of the flags.

“People sponsor a flag in honor of someone they know who has served and the class donates the money to the Veterans Health Alliance, which helps support veterans as they transition back into civilian life.”

The display will remain at the school through Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7.
