NATURE-THEMED STORYTIME

Children, ages 2-5, are welcome to join Group for the East End staff at Downs Farm Preserve as they enjoy a nature-themed story, create a fun craft and explore the nature center. FULL WOLF MOON HIKE
Thursday, January 12 (Two sessions: (i ) 5 to 5:45 p.m. families with children; (ii) 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. adults)
Join a Group for the East End naturalist for a beautiful, crisp moonlit walk through the trails of Downs Farm Preserve. Discover the sights and sounds of the world at night. FAMILY NATURE BINGO FAMILY FUN
Friday, January 13 (5 to 6 p.m.)
Join Group for the East End for a fun night of nature bingo at Downs Farm Preserve. We’ll play a round of nature bingo while learning a bit about some common Long Island Residents. Bring your family and friends because all ages are welcome! Small prizes will be awarded. BIRD FEEDER WATCH
Sunday, January 15 thru Saturday, January 21 ( times vary )
Love bird watching? Help Group for the East End collect data during our Bird Feeder Watch Program at Downs Farm Preserve. The program runs from November to April, one full week every month. Volunteers are asked to count and identify birds visiting the feeders for a minimum of 15 minutes on the assigned observation day. A WINTER WALK THROUGH THE WOODS [FAMILY FUN]
Saturday, January 21 (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
This nature walk along the trails of the Downs Farm Preserve will explore the forest ecosystem during the winter season. We will identify the common plants of the preserve, and search for animals (including evidence of their presence) along the way.
