(Updated: 6:24 a.m.) Mattituck-Cutchogue, Southold and Greenport school districts will have a two-hour delayed start this morning, due to the snow, school officials said.

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a winter weather advisory for our area, which is expected to see two to three inches of accumulating snow before it ends by 10 a.m.

“Pretty snow but the roads are not good yet,” said Mattituck-Cutchogue Schools Superintendent Dr. Anne Smith, who said she had just been out to check conditions. “Drive carefully.”

Other schools with a two-hour delayed start:

  • Oysterponds School District
  • Bishop McGann-Mercy
  • Riverhead Central School District
  • Riverhead Charter School

Our Lady of Mercy Regional School in Cutchogue announced on its Facebook page school will be closed today. Teachers are instructed to report at 11 a.m.

The weather service is keeping its eye on a coastal storm it says could bring four to seven inches of snow to our region on Saturday.
