The Southold Town Democratic Committee’s popular and informative monthly breakfasts are back in the New Year. This year’s meetings will kick off on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at CJ’s American Grill, 10095 Main Rd. in Mattituck from 9 to 11 a.m.

This month’s guest speaker is Richard Olsen-Harbich. He will discuss Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing, a not-for-profit organization providing education and certification for Long Island vineyards. L.I. Sustainable Winegrowing uses international standards of sustainable practices in quality wine-grape production. These practices are based on an independent third-party-verified checklist system consisting of recommended and prohibited practices and materials, thoughtful planning, and numerous ecological options.

Olsen-Harbich is a pioneer Long Island winemaker with more than 30 years of experience. He wrote the North Fork of Long Island appellation into existence in 1986, and is the only winemaker in Eastern North America to use entirely indigenous yeasts. Rich developed the first Bordeaux/Long Island consultation partnership with M. Paul Pontallier of Chateau Margaux and also helped found Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing.

This breakfast is part of a series of monthly events planned by the Southold Town Democratic Club, aimed at bringing local Democrats together to discuss important issues, as well as to educate the public at large, regardless of party affiliation. The public is invited to attend.

Tickets for the breakfast are $20 and included a full breakfast buffet. Click here to email for more information.
