Celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday

The Southold Anti-Bias Task Force welcomes community members to join in a celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Church of the Redeemer in Mattituck on Jan. 15 at 4 p.m.

The celebration will be presided over by Anti-Bias Task Force co-chair Valery Shelby and will include a musical performance by Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church choir accompanied by Ted Turpin, speeches by Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell and keynote speaker Rev. Natalie Wimberly, pastor of Clinton Memorial and an invocation by Rabbi Barbara Sheryll of the North Fork Reform Synagogue in Cutchogue.

Excerpts from Martin Luther King Jr.’s writings will be read by local youth and a benediction will be delivered by Rev. Dr. Peter Kelley of First Presbyterian Church of Southold. Organizers hope to add several more speakers to the program.

Refreshments will be served after the celebration.

The Church of the Redeemer is located at 13225 Sound Ave, Mattituck.
