Southold Youth Bureau hosts sports equipment swap at recreation center

Kids outgrow sports equipment faster than you can imagine and that can create a couple of problems for parents.

Outfitting a child with the equipment necessary to play a sport can sometimes be an expensive proposition. Having to purchase helmets, cleats, mitts, lacrosse sticks, skates or any of the other specialized gear needed can put a strain on the pocketbook. Or maybe you don’t need new equipment, but your child has outgrown items and now they’re cluttering up the garage or basement. The Southold Town Youth Bureau can help you solve either situation.

The Youth Bureau is hosting a sports equipment swap on Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southold Recreation Center on Peconic Lane.

The Youth Bureau is now accepting any gently-used equipment (cleats, shoes, bats, protective gear, gloves, skates, etc.) to give to people in need of these items. Donations can be dropped off at the Recreation Center Thursday and Friday, Jan. 26 and 27 from  1 to 4 p.m. or on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 from 8 to 10 a.m.

For more information about the swap, call  Lynn Nyilas, Youth Bureau Director at 631‐765‐8251. 2017_0112_sports_swap
