Cops: Greenport man facing forgery, drug charges after traffic stop in Southold

A Greenport man is facing forgery and drug charges after a traffic stop in Southold yesterday afternoon, Southold Town Police said in a press release.

Police said they stopped Kareem Austin, 27, while he was driving westbound on Route 25 in Southold at about 12:15 yesterday afternoon. Austin produced a forged driver’s license, according to police. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.

Austin was charged with forgery in the second degree and possession of a controlled instrument in the second degree, both class D felonies, criminal impersonation in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, class A misdemeanors, and aggravated unlicensed operation and unlicensed operation, police said.
