When the Resident Services team at Peconic Landing in Greenport gets together to plan activities for members they like to include something meaningful and creative as well as fun.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, the team came up with an idea to decorate cards for hospitalized children. About a dozen Peconic Landing residents signed up to participate and spent an afternoon painting, coloring and drawing a total of 30 cards, which were then mailed to Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

For the kids, receiving the cards is almost like having love from another grandparent coming their way, said Carrie Miller, public relations coordinator at Peconic Landing.

“We’re always looking for creative ways of reaching out to the greater community, so we thought why not spread some love on Valentine’s Day,” said Robert J. Syron, president and CEO of Peconic Landing. “Our members love to volunteer and take advantage of every opportunity to give back.”
