Barbara Browne Leary (nee Baldwin) of Cutchogue died Feb. 6, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old.
She was born Jan. 10, 1930 in Greenwich, Connecticut to Florence (Browne) and Fredrus Baldwin.
Her grandmother Lillian Browne helped introduce Barbara to the East End of Long Island where she eventually settled on the North Fork. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her gardens or golfing with her friends at the North Fork Country Club. She loved literature and reading and spent many hours in the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a compassionate nature said her family. They described her as a strong, confident woman with a great flair and sense of style.
Predeceased by her brother Covert, she is survived by her husband of 62 years Paul, her son Bruce, her daughter Linda Scholl and her granddaughter Shauna Denniston Scholl.
Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice or Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library.
Arrangements were entrusted to Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue.
