Southold Police: Two dogs attack, kill neighbor’s dog in Mattituck

A pair of dogs at large attacked and killed a dog in Mattituck yesterday morning, Southold Town Police.

Police said two pit bulls owned by Jorge Torrento, 44, of Mattituck were running at large in a Mattituck neighborhood when they attacked and killed a neighbor’s dog.

Torrento was charged with having a dangerous dog under the N.Y. State Agriculture and Markets Law, police said.

Both dogs were captured and transported to the North Fork Animal Welfare League’s shelter in Southold.

The incident is under investigation, according to the police report.
