Walter R. Zaweski, a lifelong Jamesport resident, died May 24, 2017 while in hospice care in Westhampton Beach. He was 88 years old.
He was born on January 16, 1929 in Jamesport to Felix Zaweski and Pauline Glover.
He was a farmer in Jamesport. He married Helen Sujecki on September 14, 1952. He was a former board member of the Long Island Cauliflower Association and the Long Island Farm Bureau. He served as the head usher at the 5 p.m. Saturday Mass at St. Isidore R.C. Church.
Predeceased by his wife Helen and his brothers Felix and Anthony, he is survived by his son Daniel (Donna Lessard), his brothers Edward of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Kenneth (Alice) of Jamesport, his brother-in-law Edward Sujecki (Albuna), his sisters-in-law Constance Stelzer and Madelyn Sendlewski Zaweski, two grandchildren, Ethan and Emily and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Friday, May 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church. Interment will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery.
