New eatery, La Gran Villa, opens in Mattituck

For those hankering for a taste of El Salvador, a new restaurant has opened on Main Road in Mattituck that brings homemade specialties such as pupusas to the North Fork.

La Gran Villa, which opened last month at 13000 Main Road, is decorated with cozy tables; step inside and smell delcious fare made fresh and sold in heaping portions.

In addition to pupusa — a traditional Salvadoran dish made a thick corn torilla filled with cheese, cooked pork that’s been ground to a paste, or other fillings — the menu, which is in Spanish, offers a wide selection of soups, seafood, chicken, beef, pork, tacos, burritos, platters and thick fruit shakes for dessert.

The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., seven days a week, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For additional information, call 631-315-5165.
