A Cutchogue man spent the night behind bars after being arrested early Sunday in Mattituck and charged with driving while intoxicated.
According to Southold Town police, Israel Ruiz-Veliz, 53, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, at the corner of Route 25 and Sigsbee Lane.
Police said Veliz was stopped for failure to maintain his lane on Route 25; he failed several road side sobriety tests.
He was taken to police headquarters and held overnight pending arraignment in Southold Justice Court.
