(Updated4:40 pm.) Four people were injured when a minibus rear-ended another vehicle in an eastbound lane of County Road 48 at Cox Lane at about 3:45 this afternoon.
The bus driver, who called police to report the accident initially reported no one was injured, Southold Police Chief Martin Flatley said. But three people aboard the bus and the driver of the car sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, Flatley said. The bus, operated by Adlewirth Bus Co. was carrying developmentally disabled adults, the chief said.
Eastbound County Road 48 between Depot Lane and Cox Lane was briefly closed while the accident was cleared.
