Tuckers cruise to final regular-season win

The Tuckers finished their regular season with a big 7-2 win over Port Jefferson/Knox in Mattituck yesterday.

Marcos Perivolari fanned six batters and gave up just four hits as he notched his sixth victory this season. Twins James and Ian Nish drove in five of the Tuckers’ seven runs. James Nish went 2 for 3, with a double and three RBIs. Ian Nish also went 2 for 3 and had two RBIs.

The Tuckers wrapped up 2014 regular season play with a 17-1 record in League VIII, 18-2 overall, compiling more victories than any other varsity baseball team in Suffolk.

Mattituck is expected to face off against the league’s second-place team, Center Moriches, for a three game series to decide the Suffolk County League VIII championship.  Center Moriches handed Mattituck its only league loss on April 2, by a score of 7-2, though Mattituck took two of the three games in that series.  The Class B championship series is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 19 in Mattituck.

Meanwhile, the Tuckers have a scrimmage scheduled Monday afternoon at Shorehwam-Wading River.
