Cops: Holbrook man caught with heroin during traffic stop in Southold

A Holbrook man was caught with heroin and hypodermic needles yesterday after police pulled him over for a traffic stop on Route 25 in Southold.

Southold Town Police said Stephen Hannay, 32, was found to be in possession of wax paper envelopes containing heroin as well as multiple hypodermic needles. One needle was contained an off-white liquid, police said.

Hannay was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

He was taken to police headquarters and held for arraignment, according to the police report.
