Clara “Cotty” Louise Cooper Tuthill of Cutchogue died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. She was 91 years old.
She was born on March 29, 1923 in Port Leyden, NY to Lyda Amanda (nee Campbell) and William Giles Cooper and married Hallock E. Tuthill on October 13, 1945 at the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church.
“Cotty” was a member of the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church, Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Society and the Cutchogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She had also been a health aide and candy striper at Eastern Long Island Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband Hallock E. Tuthill on February 9, 2015 and by her son Cadet William E. Tuthill in 1972 and by siblings Marcella Leonard, James E. Cooper, Marion R. Cooper, William G. Cooper and Sherwood M. Cooper.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes in Mattituck. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April at 10 a.m. at the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church. Reverend Richie King will officiate. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery.
