Georgina (Jean) Gillen of South Jamesport died October 29, 2015 at Riverhead Care Center. She was 90 years old.
Born in Hempstead on Christmas day in 1924 she was the daughter of Maude and Charles Ashdown.
She worked for many years as a professional secretary, assistant and office manager. In her retirement she devoted her time as loving mother and grandmother, hospital volunteer as well as a member of the Red Hats, Pioneers, and Homemakers. Jean was a phenomenal seamstress.
Predeceased by her husband Augustine (Gus) in 1988 and son Douglas in 2000, she is survived by her daughter Kathleen and son-in-law Lee Anthony as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 7, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home, 406 East Main St., Riverhead. Cremation and interment will be private.
