Southold shoppers will have more than one opportunity for big bargains this holiday season. While Black Friday may bring in the deals today at the big-name chain stores, local residents will have another shot to save on local holiday gifts on Nov. 28 during Small Business Saturday.
A national campaign launched by American Express five years ago, Small Business Saturday puts the emphasis on the mom and pop stores that Southold is famous for. Last year nationwide, 88 million consumers participated in the deal-filled day and spent $14.3 billion, according to a survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business. More than 50 percent of Americans are aware of Small Business Saturday, a number that has grown each year since its inception.
Here are some of the deals going down in Southold this year:
Gifts
- Peconic Landing will be holding a Holiday Gift Showcase, where more than 30 local businesses will sell their homemade holiday gifts. Participating vendors include: Clarks Garden, The Giving Room, Greenport Wine and Spirits, Alicia’s Jewelry, Robert’s Jewelry, Mary Kay Jewelry, Swarovski Jewelry, Dreaming Buddha Artwork and Paintings, cHarissa Spices and more. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Burton’s Books, Vines & Branches and the Weathered Barn are all offering American Express buyers 10 percent off their purchase.
- Impulse Boutique is offering 20 percent off all jewelry and accessories.
- Harbor Pet is offering 30 percent off select dog dishes and 10 percent off select dog coats.
- One Love Beach Inc. is offering up to 50 percent off select apparel and footwear; paddle-boards 10 percent off, paddles are 50 percent off with the purchase of a new paddle board.
- Coast is offering 10 percent off.
FOOD
- A Taste of the North Fork and North Fork Table & Inn will both offer gift certificate discounts.
- The Giving Room Yoga Studio, Juice Bar and Organic Grocery is offering 20 percent off yoga class cards, 10 percent off all juice cards and groceries, free juice and smoothie samples and healthy treats.
- Wayside Market, North Fork Roasting Co. and Blue Duck Bakery will all have special offers on their menu Saturday.
- Polywoda Beverage has a special growler offer.
- Touch of Venice will have a special prix fixe menu.
