Jesus Mercedes Gonzales of Mattituck died on April 12, 2016 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue. She was 53 years old.
She was born in Peru on September 8, 1962 to Neptali and Nelly (nee Lazo) Cabanillas.
Jesus had been a teacher in Peru. After coming to the states, she lived in the communities of Central Islip and Bay Shore and attended Suffolk County Community College.
In her free time, she enjoyed music and dancing.
Surviving are her husband Angel; children: Angel, Jr., Gabriel and Ashley all of Mattituck and siblings: Ibis Cabanillas of Peru and Miguel and Marco Cabanillas both of Brentwood.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 23 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Mattituck. Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt officiated.
Internment in Puerto Rico.
