Third annual Southold bike swap, bike rodeo, May 21

Now that the sunshine has finally arrived and springlike weather seems to be here to stay, it’s bike riding season – time to check on the size and condition of those bikes that have been in the garage all winter.

The Town of Southold will hold its third annual bike swap on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Recreation Center in Peconic.

Residents may bring a bike and swap it for another – great if your child has outgrown a bicycle, or you if you want to donate a bike to a worthy cause. Bikes not claimed in the bike swap will be donated to CAST for those in need.

The Southold Town Police Department will be holding a bike rodeo to reinforce safe riding practices. Participants need to bring a bicycle and a helmet.

A technician from Country Time Cycles of Mattituck will be available to check bikes for safety and functionality.
