Mattituck lost a hard-fought playoff game against Center Moriches this afternoon at home.

Center Moriches took an early lead and held it until the third inning, when Victor Proferes hit a RBI single. The tie was short-lived, when a ball fell deep in right field to bring in two runs for the Red Devils, making it 3-1.

The Tuckers were quick to respond in the fourth inning. Bryce Grathwohl batted in Joe Tardif to make it a one-run game.

Center Moriches held onto their lead until the seventh inning, when Johnny Dwyer hit a double. After a bunt by Proferes, James McDonald hit a pop fly with one out, which was caught but was enough to bring Dwyer home to tie it, forcing extra innings.

The Tuckers and the Devils went back and forth for two more innings, until the top of the tenth when the Devils batted in four runs to clinch the game, 7-3.

Mattituck went 19-4 for the season.
