Samia Thomas Sr. of Flanders died July 10, 2016 in Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 73 years old.
He was born in Homerville, Georgia on November 17, 1942 to Joseph Thomas and Cornlinus Bryant.
He served in the United States Army in 1967 and later worked as a computer technician at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity.
Predeceased by his daughter Phyllis Minter, his brothers Joseph, Earl and Luke Thomas and his sister Rosalie Bell, he is survived by his wife Alease (Reid), his sons Richard Minter, Dwayne, Christopher and Samia Thomas Jr; his daughters Brenda and Patricia Minter; his brothers Jimmy, Richard, Robert and Matthew; his sisters Rachel, Lisa and Bernadette Thomas and Estella Bell; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren .
Visitation will be on Monday, July 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home. A service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Coverdale and the Rev. Cynthia Liggon officiating. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
