Local firefighters join battle against 12-alarm blaze on Main Street in Sag Harbor

Firefighters from at least a dozen departments across the South Fork are battling a fire on Main Street in Sag Harbor this morning.

The fire, which is burning at least two storefronts and the Sag Harbor Cinema, has not yet been brought under control. It is believed to have started in a coffee shop two doors down from the theater.

Flanders Fire Department was called to the multi-alarm fire at 7:49 a.m. Other departments called in to help Sag Harbor Fire Department to battle the blaze include Southampton, East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Amagansett, Shelter Island, Hampton Bays, North Sea, Springs, Montauk, Quogue and East Quogue. Riverhead Fire Department has been called to stand by at Sag Harbor’s headquarters.

Volunteers are battling high winds and frigid temperatures in addition to flames and smoke.

The call came in at 6:14 a.m. as a deck fire. The fire has not yet been brought under control.
