Peconic Landing hosted its 12th annual May Mile & 5K race this morning and despite dire warnings from weather forecasters, there was a good turnout.

Fifteen-year-old Chris Kuczynski, a Greenport High School student, finished first with a time of 17:51. Jackie Chapeton, 10, also a Greenport student, was the first female over the finish line with a time of 23:53.

After the race, runners and walkers were treated to a barbecue lunch and took their chances at a Chinese auction and several raffles. A fun zone for children was set up inside Brecknock Hall and The Daves performed live music.

The race celebrates Older Americans Month and this year it generated a donation of $24,800 to the Greenport Fire Department.
