Edward Thomas Berkoski, 98, of Mattituck passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at his home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10.00 am on Monday, Feb. 17 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, 3000 Depot Lane, Cutchogue, New York, 11935 with Reverend Stanislaw Wadowski officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Edward was born Nov. 12, 1915 in Peconic, New York to Antone and Josephine (Deerkoski) Berkoski. He attended Braniff Airlines School of Mechanics, Dallas, Texas in the late 30s, and graduated from Faust Aircraft Sheetmetal Training School, Jericho, New York in 1940. He was employed by EDO Aircraft Corporation, College Point, New York until 1943 and then returned to the North Fork to co-manage his family’s farm.
An owner/grower, wholesaler, distributor and general manager, his calling and career was farming, retiring well-into his 80s.
Edward is survived by his sister Theresa (Mitchell Wilcenski), his daughters Diane (Thomas Sparks) and Susan, his son Antone (Geraldine Brush), and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antone and Josephine, his siblings Mary, Stanley, Helen and Sophie, and his wife, Tess (Pisarewicz).
Memorial donations may be made to either Mattituck or Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue Squads.
