Mildred “Millie” Rakowicz, 95, of Brevard, NC and formerly of Southold passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. She was born on June 3, 1918 in Suffolk County, NY to the late Joseph and Bertha Zilnicki Droskoski. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Mitchell Rakowicz, a grandson Scott Rakowicz; five brothers and one sister.
She is survived her son, Stanley M. Rakowicz and wife Barbara of Brevard, NC; two grandchildren, Todd Rakowicz of Brevard, NC and Deanna Laine and husband Dean of Brevard, NC; a great-grandson Aaron Laine; and a sister Helen Wolanski of Cutchogue, NY.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4th at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Southold. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
