Mattituck resident Gary D. Bufkins, 72, died on Saturday at Peconic Bay Medical Center.
Bufkins, a pastor at Community Christian Fellowship Church in Mattituck,was born in Cave City, Kentucky to Wilmore and Mabel Butkins.
The owner of GMHS Plumbing and Heating company in Mattituck, Bufkins served in the United States Air Force from 1961 through 1966. He enjoyed
golf.
Bufkins leaves behind his wife Valerie, nee Bryant, his sons John and Douglas of Southold, his son Bill of Saratoga Springs, NY, his daughter Elizabeth Avalas of Guatemala, and his sister Mary Susan Bufkins of
Kentucky.
Services will be held at the Coster Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a service at 8 p.m. A service and prayers will also be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral
home. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
