George L. Bixby, of Riverhead, died March 8, 2014 at Hampton Center for Rehabilitation in Southampton. He was 94 years old.
Born in Elmira, N.Y. on Dec. 21, 1919, he was the son of Rome and Ruth Bixby. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was employed as an electrician for Grumman Aerospace.
Family members said he enjoyed working around his yard, woodworking, reading and spending time with family.
He was predeceased by his wife Stella and is survived by his daughter, Carol Marrin, of Hampton Bays, his son, George, of Brooklyn, and two grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 11, 2-4 and and 7-9 p.m. at McLaughlin-Heppner Funeral Home, 336 Marcy Avenue, Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Riverhead.
