Cops: Motorcyclist “Seriously” Injured in Mattituck Crash

A motorcyclist sustained “serious” injuries in an accident that took place on Thursday morning in Mattituck, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the accident occurred on County Road 48 and Wickham Avenue at 10:33 a.m. Police said Lucretia Kramer, 85, of Mattituck was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile sedan west on Route 48 and made a left turn into the path of Patrick Lonergan,56, of St. James, who was heading east on his 2013 Harley Davidson.

The injured were treated at the scene by the Mattituck and Cutchogue Fire Departments.

Police said Longeran was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital Trauma Center. Kramer and her passenger, Barbara Judge, 71, of Brooklyn, were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Mattituck Fire Department Ambulance after both complained of head and neck pain.

Traffic summonses are pending for Kramer, police said, who will be charged with failure to yield and violating restrictions of her license, violations, police said. Southold Fire Department, Mattituck Fire Department and Cutchogue FIre Department, and rescue units responded.

County Road 48 was closed heading east during the accident investigation.
