Patriotic spirit was in full force Sunday as a crowd of residents turned out for the Fifth Annual Oysterponds Historical Society Heritage Day Parade & Celebration in Orient.
The event started at noon at the Civil War monument on Village Lane and featured fire department trucks, tractors, vintage cars, and prizes for the best bike decorations.
A reading of the Declaration of Independence took place at the Old Point Schoolhouse, and then fun seekers headed to Poquatuck Park for music, hot dogs, sweets, and festivities.
